Blackwater River Conservation Mission
Virginia's Blackwater River is bustling with aquatic wildlife, countless marine plants, as well as terrestrial plants and animals. I have participated in various community beautification initiatives in the past but my fishkeeping hobby during my personal time and background in conservation research inspired me to clean the Blackwater River and its banks in Franklin City Virginia.
Litter can be nonconductive to plants and species that inhabit rivers and the surrounding environment. Various types of litter can take 100s to 1000+ years to decompose naturally. Picking up litter and recycling whenever you get the chance can make a big difference to the environment. Every little bit helps!
I partnered with the City of Franklin Beautification Commission in the City of Franklin's Adopt-A-spot community service initiative. I am glad that I had the opportunity to clean the Blackwater River in the same manner as I clean my own aquariums.
